Several leading international schools decided to withdraw from the all-important International Schools’ Athletic Champions (ISAC) after the circulation of an anonymous letter that threatened to plant explosives at the Mahinda Rajapakse Stadium in Diyagama.
As planned, the meet will be held from the 25th to the 27th of February 2017 with 19 schools opposed to the initial 24.
Furthermore, the organizers have decided to strengthen security at the stadium during the meet.
Over 2500 athletes will compete in a total of 130 events. Meanwhile, Lyceum Wattala will look to defend the title after an impressive display in last year’s championship.
