Unfortunately, my Big Bash season is over which is very disappointing. I’ll now have surgery and the rehabilitation to get me fit and playing at my best again. I want to thank all the Renegades fans for their support for me and I hope to see them again next season – Dwayne Bravo.
The big West Indian, Dwayne Bravo took an unexpected blow and will undergo surgery for a left hamstring injury sustained during the game against the Perth Scorchers in the Big Bash League on Thursday the 29th of December 2016.
With main man Bravo out, the Scorchers went on to complete an impressive win over the Melbourne Renegades. Batting first, the Renegades posted an average score of 148 in 20 overs. Dwayne Bravo made 23 of 18 deliveries with a six under his name. In reply, Michael Klinger helped the Scorchers close to the target. However, the Renegades bounced back with some late wickets.
Ashton Agar of Lankan descent smashed a six off the final delivery to complete an unbelievable win over the Renegades. Dwayne Bravo’s only over went for 14 runs. His absence from the field limited the bowling options for the Melbourne Renegades.
Furthermore, the West Indian will miss the entire tournament with a long way to recovery ahead.
“It’s a huge blow, he’s one of the best allrounders in the world. It’s an unbelievably damaging blow for us, but also for him because we know how much he loves coming out here,” said Aaron Finch.
Dwayne Bravo is considered one of the world’s greatest all-rounders of all time. He Renegades will have to dig deep to fill in for the West Indian.
“I drove him home last night and he was more gutted about the loss. You never want to see players like that go down. If you see the footage, his ankle went below him and the surface was a bit uneven. At the end of the day, you do lose players throughout the tournament. We’ve lost James Pattinson for the first couple of games and that’s a big loss. And that’s where the other guys have got to step up and play their roles. If you’re going to win the Big Bash, you’re going to require all 18 of the squad,” said Brad Hogg.
Away from cricket, Dwayne Bravo is an excellent entertainer. He dances, sings and is well embraced all around the world, especially in India. He even composed a song which was sung by the West Indians who won the World Twenty20 in the recent past. Bravo is one of cricket’s main men and his absence will surely hurt world cricket, especially West Indies.
Dwayne Bravo’s early life and career
Born on the 7th of October 1983, Dwayne John Bravo made his international debut for West Indies in April 2004. He started off as a batsman but transformed into an excellent all-rounder. At one stage, the West Indies relied heavily on Bravo but gradually they began to poorly utilize him in all formats of the game. This disrupted his progress as a cricketer.
However, Dwayne John Bravo’s time with the Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League brought back the lost spark as he played alongside India’s finest captain M S Dhoni. Since then, he continued to progress at an excellent rate in leagues all around the world.
We may have rejected him when playing against Sri Lanka but as cricket fans, it’s everyone’s wish to see Dwayne Bravo back in business.
