Five days after being involved in a cycling crash, Ex-MotoGP champion Nicky Hayden died aged 35 on the 22nd of May 2017. Hayden hit a car on the Rimini coastline in Italy and suffered serious cerebral damage in the intensive care unit.
He first competed in MotoGP in year 2003 and won the championship in 2006. He was nicknamed “Kentucky Kid”.
“We would like everyone to remember Nicky at his happiest – riding a motorcycle. He dreamed as a kid of being a pro-rider and not only achieved that but also managed to reach the pinnacle of his chosen sport,” said his brother Tommy who is also a motorcycle racer.
Nicky Hayden is the last American to win the premier class of motorcycle road racing.
