Another impressive contribution from veteran spinner Rangana Herath saw Sri Lanka through to an emphatic 259 run win in the 1 Test against Bangladesh at the Galle International Stadium last week.
Kusal Mendis led the show for Sri Lanka, falling just six runs short of his maiden international double century. The Tigers were pretty short of the Lankan first innings score.
In the second innings, Tharanga displayed his class, scoring a quick century to put the hosts on top.
Herath’s six-wicket haul restricted Bangladesh in the second session of Day 5. Herath also cruised to the top of the left arm wicket takers list.
“If you can get to a target like that it would be terrific, because very few people have taken 400 Test wickets. I’d love to get there, but I can’t guarantee that I’ll be in this form forever. But I’ll keep playing and contributing as I can for the team and for the country, and hope that the wickets keep coming,” said Rangana Herath.
