Trailing 3-0 from the first leg, Barcelona found it rather tough to beat Juventus as the second leg ended goalless, giving the Italians a comprehensive 3-0 win in aggregate in the quarter finals of the UEFA Champions League earlier today. Alternatively, Monaco stunned Borussia Dortmund to head into the semi-finals alongside Juventus, Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid.
Quite surprisingly, Lionel Messi side was restricted to one shot on target earlier today. Juventus join Manchester United (2007-08) and Bayern Munich (2012-13) as one of the only three teams to stop the Spaniards from scoring in both legs.
The Italians were solid in defense and Giorgio Chiellini’s experience was vital for Massimiliano Allegri’s side.
Meanwhile, leading 3-2 from the first leg, Monaco scored three more to finish 6-3 in aggregate over Borussia Dortmund. Mbappe and former Chelsea striker Falcao found the back of the net in the first half. Reus pulled one back for the opposition but Germain’s 81st minute finish gave Monaco the edge. Overall, it was a dominant display of football from the French.
The Champions league semi-final draw is scheduled to be held at the UEFA’s headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland on Friday, April 21.
