The Sri Lankan women’s team came out guns blazing to defeat Pakistan by five wickets in the Super Six stage of the ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifier played at the Nondescripts Cricket Club earlier today. This win took them one step closer to the all-important ICC Women’s World Cup.
Batting first, the visitors made 212 for the loss of 7 wickets in 50 overs. Nahida Khan and Javeria Khan top scored with sixties under their name. Inoka Ranaweera and Chamari Polgampola bagged two wickets each for Sri Lanka.
In response with the bat, the Sri Lankan openers made an excellent start but lost three quick wickets in the middle overs. Good knocks from Prasadini Weerakkody and Eshani Lokusuriyage saw the home side through to an easy win with 14 deliveries to spare.
