Yet again, English teams had their say expect for Chelsea’s humiliating three-nil defeat to Roma on week four of the UEFA Champions League in venues across Europe. Tottenham Hotspur stunned reigning champions Real Madrid three-one at Wembley earlier today.
Manchester United, Manchester City and Liverpool got the better of Benfica, Napoli and Maribor to retain their position on top of the table.
Meanwhile, Qarabag restricted Athletico Madrid to a point, diminishing their chances to qualify for the round of 16.
Chelsea and Roma are likely to make it to the next round in group c.
Last night at Wembley, Dele Ali scored twice and Cristen Eriksen got the third for Tottenham before Cristiano Ronaldo’s 80th minute finish which made no difference to the final score.
“It’s a bad time for us because we’re losing and we’re used to winning. It’s a bad patch for us, but we want to change it and I’m sure we will. This is the beginning, we still have a lot of time to improve and I’m convinced that we will. There’s been no harm done, but bad runs aren’t good and we have to change things,” said Ronaldo.
