With four wickets down for 130, the home team moved ever so close to another spectacular win on Day 3 of the 2nd Test between South Africa and Sri Lanka at Cape Town last evening.
The visitors have six wickets in hand but are 377 runs behind the mammoth target.
Batting first, tons from Dean Elgar and Quinton De Kock guided South Africa to 392 on a green wicket. Lahiru Kumara bagged six wickets for Sri Lanka.
In reply, the Sri Lankans lost all ten wickets for 110. Both Vernon Philander and Kagiso Rabada claimed four wickets each for South Africa.
The home side extended their lead in the second innings, declaring at 224. Chasing 507, Sri Lanka lost four quick wickets in the span of 40 overs. Captain Angelo Mathews and vice-captain Dinesh Chandimal remain unbeaten in their twenties.
