The Sri Lankan Men’s hockey team left to Malaysia for training and international exposure on Sunday the 19th of February 2017. The squad of 25 qualified for the second round of the World Hockey League scheduled to be held from March 4th to 12th in Dhaka Bangladesh.
The Lankans were placed runner up as China bagged the other spot in round two. The Sri Lankans managed to get the better of Myanmar, Singapore, Kazakhstan and Thailand in round one.
The match against China ended in a tie but Sri Lanka failed to capitalise on the penalty shooting, losing 4-2 in the end.
Sri Lanka will play Egypt in round two on the 4th of March 2017.
