A good all-round performance from Sri Lanka took the team to an impressive five wicket in the tour match played against Australia Prime Minister’s XI at Canberra earlier today.
Vikum Sanjaya bowled an excellent spell but the openers were once again at their best. Both Tharanga and Dickwella made 47 each. However, Tharanga remained unbeaten at the end of the game.
Furthermore, Lasith Malinga made an excellent comeback, picking up a wicket with his trademark delivery in just the fifth ball of the Australian innings.
Batting first, Australia made 169 for the loss of 5 wickets in 20 overs. Sam Heazlett and Adam Voges scored half centuries for the home side.
In response, Sri Lanka got off to a splendid start but Dickwella was dismissed when the score was at 70. Dilshan Munaweera made 32 and Milinda Siriwardena scored 25 from 19 deliveries.
The 1st of the three Twenty 20’s will be played on Friday.
