In the absence of Angelo Mathews and Dinesh Chandimal, the Sri Lankan selectors have opted to use the experience of Upul Tharanga for the upcoming tri-series involving Zimbabwe and the West Indies.
Tharanga will lead the team under Kusal Perera’s assistance.
Regardless of the positives, the selectors were keen on resting Mathews and Chandimal for the South African tour to follow.
However, spinner Jeffrey Vandersay and Nuwan Pradeep will fill in after a prolonged phase of recovery.
