These were the words of Dilantha Malagamuwa, a humble servant who dedicated and risked his entire life towards achieving the impossible and most importantly bringing glory to his beloved motherland Sri Lanka.
As he continues to do so, Dilantha certainly has played his part as a role model for the younger generation by demonstrating the art of attaining glory. Subsequently, Dilantha’s involvement in initiation several social awareness programmes have highlighted his urge towards making his country a better place to live.
However, as far as his services are concerned, “underrated” would undoubtedly be an accurate word to describe the support entrusted by the locals.
Summing up his career in racing, Dilantha Malagamuwa is the best-known racer Sri Lanka has ever produced.

The HIV Awareness programme
In the latter stage of 2015, Dilantha Malagamuwa took part in an HIV awareness programme which delivered a priceless message supporting diagnosed individuals in his fullest.
In a statement on his official facebook page, Dilantha Malagamuwa said, “Life is also just like a motor race. Sometimes we meet with unexpected challenges. But we have ways to overcome those challenges and to move forward. HIV is also a challenge some of our friends face in their life race. Fortunately, medical science has advanced to overcome issues related to HIV facilitating a quality normal life. Individuals living with HIV can live a normal life with medication and it has become a chronically manageable disease just like diabetes and hypertension. What you can do is get tested for HIV today and know your status. Protect yourself and loved ones.”
The Drive Safety Campaign
Under the theme “Our Life Our Fight”, the inspiration Dilantha Malagamuwa initiated a Drive Safety campaign across Sri Lanka, educating the public and encouraging them to adhere to safety guidelines at all times.
Together with a few local celebrities, Dilantha Malagamuwa emerged quite successful in delivering the priceless message while including a few entertainment programmes as well.
Starting off at the Vihara Maha Devi park, the drive safety campaign continued its journey, enlightening fellow Sri Lankans to refrain from putting their loved ones at risk by being careless on the road.
“We had the Safety Driving Campaign in Gampaha yesterday and it was very successful with all the support from Mayor and Police. Special thanks to Osman Aiya for organising and to all the artist who came to support We will go all over Sri Lanka to promote this and save lives, said Dilantha Malagamuwa.
Motivational Lecture at Kelaniya Campus
As far as Dilantha Malagamuwa’s recent engagements are concerned, his motivational speech in the Kelaniya Campus Department of Marketing Management was indeed considered a remarkable lecture. As he frequently does, Dilantha never neglected to thank his fans for their outstanding support in times of need.
Charity Cycle Ride
It wouldn’t be incorrect to replace Dilantha Malagamuwa’s middle name with the term “charity”. He further enjoyed a charity cycle ride which was organised by Rotaract Club of Kandy in the recent past.
If there are two things that he’d never forget, it would undoubtedly be smiling and sharing his smile with his followers in social media.
Ending on a positive note, Dilantha Malagamuwa is certainly not done yet. The 53-year-old racer has plenty left in his tank as he thrives to inspire in every possible way, creating a better environment for the future generation of Sri Lanka.
