A brilliant knock from Dilani Manodara ended Sri Lanka’s winless streak in their final group stage match against Pakistan in the ICC Women’s world cup at Grace Road, Leicester over the weekend. However, it was a disappointing campaign for the two teams.
Batting first, Pakistan had Sri Lanka 98 for 5 in the 27th over but an exception knock from Dilani helped the side to 221 in 50 overs. Tail enders Kaushalya and Kanchana contributed with a couple of starts as well.
Diana Baig bagged 3 for 41 for Pakistan.
In response, they were well set at 134 for 4 but a couple of quick blows restricted the side to 206. Gunaratne bagged 4 for 41 in her 10 overs. She was adjudged player of the match.
