As we approach South Asian Games 2016, the Sri Lankan Cycling Federation has given their final verdict on the 16 member team, which includes 8 women and 8 men respectively. While the team currently prepares to deliver their best, the competition is all set to being on the 5th of February 2016.
With Upali Ratnayake as their coach, the team is believed to be in good hands as they undergo final sessions of training in Anuradhapura.
Unlike in the past, the coach believes that the current unit is capable of bagging at least 3 Gold Medals for Sri Lanka. Janaka Hemantha and Jeevan Jayasinghe remain key as far as medals are concerned.
As reported in the sunday times, “Sri Lanka’s biggest threat in 2006 was from Pakistan. In 2010 Sri Lanka’s main rivals were India. This year Sri Lanka possesses a fine team and has been practicing hard. Not having enough time to train has been the main draw back. We hope to give a strong challenge at the SAG,” said Coach Upali Ratnayake.
