After losing 4-0 to Bangladesh, Sri Lanka needed a win against Bhutan to qualify for the semi-finals but suffered a 6-0 loss in the 2017 SAFF U15 Championship at the ANFA Complex in Nepal.
Dorji Khando scored in the 9th and the 14th minute to put Bhutan on top. Kinga Wangchuk scored the third goal for Bhutan. Kelzang Jigmi scored twice to make it 5-0 at the half way mark.
Siddharth Gurung’s goal in the 90th minute made it 6-0. The Sri Lankans were good with their defence in the second half. Offensively, they were horrible.
In 2015 Bangladesh emerged champions defeating India in a penalty shoot-out.
