Bhuveneswar Kumar and Shikhar Dhawan will not be apart of the 2nd Test against Sri Lanka at Nagpur on Friday.
The two serior players were released by the Board of Cricket in India.
“The BCCI would like to inform that Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Shikhar Dhawan have been released from India’s Test team. The duo made a request to the selectors and the team management to release them owing to personal reasons,” the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said in a statement.
As a replacement, Tamilnadu allrounder Vijay Shankar will play in the 2nd Test. Murali Vijay will most likely replace Shikhar Dhawan.
