At 198 for 5, the hosts are back in the driver’s seat with just 119 to win in the 2nd Test at the Dubai International Stadium. However, the visitors are not far away from taking the series with just five wickets to claim on the final day.
Batting first, Dimuth Karunaratne’s 196 helped Sri Lanka to a massive score of 482. Pakistan responded with 262, enabling Sri Lanka to enforce the follow-on.
Choosing against it, Sri Lanka lost all ten wickets for 96.
Chasing a target of 317, Pakistan lost 5 for 52 but a steady partnership between skipper Sarfaraz Ahamed and Asad Shafiq took them ever so close to an upset in the latter part of Day 4.
With the new ball due early on Day 5, Sri Lanka will fancy a wicket or two to get through to the Pakistan tail. One early wicket will take Sri Lanka back to the driver’s seat on day 5.
Play commences at 3.30pm today.
