After the win against Dambulla, Colombo beat Kandy by 58 runs to remain unbeaten in the ongoing Sri Lanka Cricket Provincial One Day International Tournament.
Subsequently, Galle beat Dambulla by 11 runs (D/L Method) in the 4th match of the tournament.
Both matches were played in Colombo on the 5th of May 2018.
Match 3 Colombo vs Kandy at R Premadasa Stadium
Colombo won the toss and elected to bat first but lost the early wicket of Dilshan Munaweera in the 4th over of the innings. Inform batsman Lahiru Thirimanne and Dhananjaya De Silva were run out but Shehan Jayasuriya built a steady partnership with Chamara Silva’s support.
Silva was dismissed 13 runs short of his century. Shehan Jayasuriya made 110 in just 100 deliveries to take the score of 299 for 10 in the final over.
Jeevan Mendis picked 4 for 38 for Kandy.
In response, Niroshan Dickwella and Mahela Udawatte took the visitors off to a flying start but a lower middle order collapse restricted the side to just 241 in 43 overs.
Lakshan Sandakan picked 4 for 59 in 10 for Colombo.
Match 4 Galle vs Dambulla at CCC
After being put on to bat first, an excellent ton from Ashan Priyanjan took Dambulla to 257 for 8 in 50 overs. Milinda Siriwardena contributed with a useful 45.
Dasun Shanaka picked 3 for 42 in 8 for Galle.
In reply, Upul Tharanga’s 86 followed by a couple of twenties took the Southerners to a comfortable 11 run win (D/L method). Galle made 250 for 8 before rain stopped play.
The 5th and the 6th ODIs are currently underway at two different venues in Colombo. In Match 5, the Southerners are 172 for 3 in 30 overs against Colombo. Sadeera Samarawickrama is unbeaten with 62 in just 67 balls alongside Roshen Silva who has only faced 13 deliveries.
Moreover, Kandy is in deep trouble with 6 down for just 69 against Dambulla in just the 19th over of the innings. The match is currently affected by rain.
