Sri Lankan batsman Danushka Gunathilaka’s six-match ban was reduced to a three-match ban after an appeal said a statement issued by the cricket board.
Gunathilaka was suspended for his attitude towards training ahead of the ongoing tour to the UAE.
However, Gunathilaka will be fined 20% of his annual contract fee for misconduct.
“The Executive Committee of Sri Lanka Cricket yesterday decided to revise the suspension imposed on Dhanushka Gunathilaka upon consideration of the appeal made on behalf of Gunathilaka by the Sinhalese Sports Club,” said Sri Lanka Cricket.
Meanwhile, Sri Lanka cricket also released a statement depicting that players who refuse to visit Lahore will not be considered for the first two T20s in the UAE.
“The understanding is that we choose the same squad for the series, in fairness to the players who have put their hands up for the Lahore match. At the moment the board is talking to each of the players individually, so the selectors don’t know exactly who is available now,” said chief selector Graeme Labrooy.
The Twenty20 squad for Pakistan is yet to be announced.
