Hambantota Sharks will not take part in any further matches this season in the Inter Club League Rugby Tournament.
Speaking for Daily Sports Exclusively, Sharks Head Coach, Nilfer Ibrahim confirmed that the club will not take part in the tournament anymore.
“Most of our players have sustained injuries during the season and their recovery will take time. It’s not ideal for us to compete in this situation since we have matches every weekend from here on”.
Nilfer also assured that the remaining players will be given the release letter from the club to join other clubs.
“It’s not fair to keep these players with us as we won’t be playing any part in the league, so taking that into consideration and doing justice for the players who are keen to continue rugby this season we are happy to release them to other clubs on their request”.
Hambantota Sharks Head Coach also said that the team will be coming back to the competition next season.
“We won’t be playing this year due to the reasons I told before, but we will be back in the next season” Nilfer Ibrahim said.
The Sharks have played 8 matches and lost 6 in this season winning 2.
