In an attempt to bring glory to Sri Lanka, Jayanthi Kuru-Utumpala and Johann Peries believe that they can surely succeed in climbing the World’s tallest peak Mount Everest in the Himalayan Mountain range.
Despite getting close in a few occasion, no Sri Lankan has ever been to the top of the Everest. The base camp at 17,700 feet (5,380m) was all they could reach in the previous attempts.
Together with the assistance from the International Mountain Guides ( IMG), the duo believes that they could start their adventurous journey by the end of this month.
Whilst only 1,565 climbers have mastered this journey, the Sri Lankans certainly do have a daunting task ahead. They’ve put their lives at risk, but accomplishing the task would certainly place them in the record books.
As far as their experience in mountain climbing is concerned, the duo has mastered Mt. Kilimanjaro (5,895m) and Island peak(6,189m) in the recent past.
The cost for climbing Everest was an estimated figure of around 19 million.
