League leaders Chelsea suffered an unexpected setback losing 2-0 to Manchester United at Old Trafford last evening. With Tottenham Hotspur in their tail, Chelsea will feel the pressure as only four points separate the two top sides.
However, the remaining fixtures rest slightly in favor of the blues as Tottenham will face the likes of Arsenal, Manchester United, Crystal Palace, and Leicester City. One loss will undoubtedly give Chelsea the advantage.
Meanwhile, Marcus Rashford was at his absolute best throughout last night’s game. An excellent finish in the 7th minute gave Manchester United an early lead but the ball clearly touched Ander Herrera’s hand before reaching goal-scorer Marcus Rashford. The referee was unmoved.
The hosts continued to keep possession by maintaining the pressure throughout the first half. Ander Herrera doubled the score in the 49th minute as the ball deceived Asmir Begovic deflecting off Kurt Zouma to find the back of the net.
With Fabregas and Willian’s introduction, Chelsea created a few chances but failed to keep them on target. Eventually, the game ended 2-0 in favor of the red devils.
“We didn’t play a good game and United deserved to win the game. hey showed more desire, more ambition, more motivation. In this case, the fault is the coach. I have a concern because we have to work together and find quickly the right ambition to win this title. If someone thinks it’s normal for Chelsea to win the title, we started as underdogs after 10th place last season. Tottenham is in good form and playing with enthusiasm. We must find the same,” said Chelsea boss Antonio Conte.
Chelsea will play Tottenham Hotspur in the semi-finals of the FA CUP later this week.
