Lasith Malinga was given a suspended ban of six months and fined 50% of the match fee from his next ODI appearance, after the disciplinary inquiry that concluded at Sri Lanka Cricket last evening.
Malinga was involved in a row with sports minister Dayasiri Jayasekara and he plead guilty for violating terms of his contract earlier in the day. However, he was named for the first two one-day internationals against Zimbabwe starting 30th of June 2017.
What is a suspension ban?
When under suspension ban, a player will be penalized and punishment would be imposed in the event of a similar infraction within the stipulated 6 month period.
Sri Lanka will play Zimbabwe in five ODI’s and a Test within the next two weeks.
