Former skipper Angelo Mathews is likely to miss the day-night test against Pakistan starting 6th of October 2017 at the Dubai International Stadium. Sri Lanka beat Pakistan by 21 runs to go one-up in the series last evening.
Mathews picked up a calf strain in training ahead of the recently concluded test in Abu Dhabi. However, he was set to return as the injury was termed “minor”.
“I don’t think I can make it to the second Test. Last week wasn’t that great. I have to get through the rehabilitation program before facing a fitness test,” said Mathews. (Sunday Times).
Nevertheless, he might find his place in the one-day internationals to follow.
