Danushka Gunathilaka and Dasun Shanaka will replace Angelo Mathews and Lahiru Gamage in the 2nd and 3rd Test of the ongoing tour against West Indies.
Angelo Mathews will return to the island for the birth of his second child whilst Lahiru Gamage is out with a finger injury he sustained in the 1st Test.
Their replacements will only leave the island today and are not expected to take part in the 2nd Test starting tomorrow at Gros Islet. However, Dhanajaya De Silva is likely to replace Mathews while Asitha Fernando or Kasun Rajitha will take Gamage’s place in the first XI. Mahela Udawatte might also make his debut on top of the order pushing Kusal Mendis to No.3, his usual batting position.
Sri Lanka will try to bounce back and they certainly have the firepower to do so. However, it’s important they learn from their mistakes in the first Test.
