An impressive early spell of bowling from Mehedi Hasan sent the Sri Lankan top order back to the dressing room on Day 1 of the 2nd Test at the P Sara Oval Colombo. At lunch, the hosts were 4 down for 70 in 27 overs.
Winning the toss and batting first, Sri Lanka lost Dimuth Karunaratne early to an excellent delivery from Mustafizur Rahman. Kusal Mendis and Upul Tharanga lost their wickets to young spinner, Mehedi Hasan. In the final over, in-form batsman Asela Gunaratne was dismissed for 13.
Meanwhile, Dinesh Chandimal played a useful hand regardless of his slow approach. Sri Lanka will have to up their run rate as the day progresses to end on a high note.
This test marks Bangladesh’s 100th Test and the tigers look pretty fierce out in the middle.
