Spain’s Rafael Nadal got the better of Stan Wawrinka (6-2 6-3 6-1) to record his 10th French Open title win in Paris last evening. The 31-year-old became the first man to win the same major 10 times.
Before the game, Nadal was under tremendous pressure, failing to win the title since 2014. He doubted he’d even win another grand slam as injured kept him under the radar.
The win was the 15th Grand Slam title for Nadal.
“I have doubts every day but that’s good as it makes me work hard with more intensity, You have to be humble and accept that you have to work to improve things. I have doubts today, I had doubts in the last three years, I will have doubts in a few days. Life is never clear. If you have no doubts, then you are very arrogant. I am not an arrogant person,” he said after the win.
