As the former Sri Lankan opening bowler Chaminda Vaas’s two year contract came to an end, yet another former cricketer, Champaka Ramanayake is expected to replace him as National Bowling Coach. This time, the officials have decided to withdraw from giving Vaas an extension.
The decision to withdraw from an extension came as there were certain coaching issues during the recently concluded World Cup. The issues that emerged, forced SLC to appoint Rumesh Ratnayake as consultant fast bowling coach during the world cup.
By taking all issues into consideration, Champaka Ramanayake is likely to replace Chaminda Vaas at least for the three international series at home this year.
