Richmond College got the better of Thurstan College to bag their maiden under-19 limited over championship in the finals of the Singer U19 division one tournament played on Sunday at Campbell Park, Borella.
Richmond completed a comprehensive 8 wicket win after an hour-long pause over a sight-screen issue.
Batting first, Thurstan College was bowled out for 141 in just the 38th over of the innings. Yeshan Wickramarachchi made useful runs before he was caught lbw at 37. Thilanga Udeeshana and Ravishka Wijesiri bagged three wickets each for Richmond College.
In response, proceedings were interrupted due to a sight-screen issue after just three deliveries. Subsequently, the hour-long pause forced the game to be reduced to 43 overs. The target was revised to 139 as well.
Richmond lost Kamindu Mendis early but an impressive half century from Dhananjaya Lakshan swung the game in their favour. Adhithya Siriwardana and Thaveesha Abhishek saw the side through to an easy win in the 25th over of the game.
