Royal College and St. Peter’s College Colombo went past their closest rivals St. Joseph’s College and Isipathana College in Week 4 of the Schools Rugby League at Havelock Park.
Royal College beat St. Joseph’s College 18-13 and the Peterites outsmarted the green machine 20-14 on the following day. Regardless of the final outcome, all four teams were at their very best all throughout the two games.
Royal College vs St. Joseph’s College at Havelock Park
The Joes were off to a terrific start but the Royalists bounced back to take a 3 point lead by the end of the first half. They led 10-7.
Ifham Faleel’s try helped Royal extend their lead early in the second half. Equally up to the task, the Joes hit back with a late try but a penalty right at the end gave Royal the win.
Isipathana College vs St. Peter’s College at Havelock Park
Like in the game between Joes and Royal, Isipathana College started fierce. They got off to a six-point lead in the first quarter of the half. St. Peter’s College made inroads in the latter part of the first half to finish 15-9.
The Green Machine sensed an opportunity and bounced back with a try early in the second half. However, a late try separated the two teams, giving St. Peter’s College the win (20-14).

- Trinity College beat S. Thomas’ College 34-24 at Pallekale
- Kingswood College beat St. Anthony’s College 27-12 at Nittawela
- Wesley College beat Zahira College 26-07 at the Zahira College Grounds
In the points table, so far the Royalists and Peterites lead group 1 and group 2. Meanwhile St. Joseph’s College and Isipathana College follow right behind them as their closest rivals.
St. Anthony’s College Kandy, Dharmaraja College, and S. Thomas’ College are yet to get off the mark this season.
The first leg of the 74th Bradby Shield between Royal College and Trinity College will be played on the 21st of April 2018.
