Sri Lanka Cricket will host an exciting triangular series with the involvement of India and Bangladesh to mark the nation’s 70th year of independence in early 2018.
The one-day international series will be played from the 18th to the 31st of March 2018 across several venues in the island.
In 1998, Sri Lanka played Pakistan and India in a similar series to mark the country’s 50th anniversary.
“We look forward to playing the Nidahas Trophy in Sri Lanka next year, as it not only coincides with the 70th year of the independence of our nation, but the 70th anniversary of Sri Lanka Cricket. As our nations gained independence within a short span of each other in our contemporary history, this will no doubt be a significant moment of similar sentimental value for us to mark with pomp and pageantry as it rightfully warrants,” said the SLC President Thilanga Sumathipala.
