After an embarrassing defeat, the Sri Lankan women’s team recorded a much needed 146 run win against Ireland in the 5th match of the ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifiers played at Nondescripts Cricket Club Grounds last evening. Inoshi Priyadarshani was announced player of the match for her efforts with the ball.
Batting first, the home team posted 239 for the loss of nine wickets in the given 50 overs. Prasadani Weerakkody top scored with 61 runs under her name.
In response, Ireland got off to a weak start, losing wicket after wicket at regular intervals. They were eventually bowled out for 93.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh, India, South Africa and Pakistan recorded wins last evening.
