South Africa got the better of home team Sri Lanka to win this year’s Red Bull Campus Cricket – World Finals at the Galle International Stadium on Saturday the 16th of September. The visitors toppled Sri Lanka by 7 wickets.
Batting first, Sri Lanka lost wickets in quick succession and at one stage struggled to post a total of over 100. Soutter and Mathews picked three wickets each for the visiting side. Chamika Karunaratne’s 29 lifted Sri Lanka to 121 in 20.
In response, Jaanneman Malan saw his side through to a comprehensive 7 wicket win over 4 overs to spare. Malan made 64 in just 47 deliveries for South Africa.
Julian Soutter was adjudged player of the match.
In the semi-finals, Sri Lanka recorded a crude win over Australia but the Africans outclassed Bangladesh with ease.
