Bangladesh and Afghanistan sealed semi-final berth beating India and the UAE in the U19 Asia Cup at Kuala Lumpur earlier today. Sri Lanka’s narrow defeat to Pakistan was all it took for the Afghans who sniffed back into the competition.
Afghanistan’s decided against the UAE was interrupted by rain and the game reduced to a twenty20.
Batting first, the spirited Afghans made 224 for 3 in 20 overs. Darwish Rasooli emerged as the pick of the batsman with a century under his name. In reply, the UAE lost 9 wickets for 90 in 20 overs. Afghanistan U19 won the game by 134 runs and ended up on top of the group overtaking Pakistan.
Meanwhile, India suffered back to back defeats against Nepal and Bangladesh. Chasing a score of 187, Bangladesh comprehensively secured an eight-wicket win earlier today.
Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and Nepal will compete for a place in the finals on the 16th and 17th of November 2017.
