The Sri Lankan women’s team suffered two humiliating losses to Hong Kong (35-5) and Japan (70-0) in the group stages of the Youth Olympic Asia Qualifier U17 Girls tournament in Dubai.
Sri Lanka thrashed Philippines 36-7 with six tries to get off to an excellent start earlier in the tournament.
However, Beatrice Bourron gave Hong Kong the lead in less than a minute and her side led 18-0 at halftime. Three tries from Tanya Dhar helped Hong Kong to 35 as Umayangana Thathsarani scored a consolation try to give Sri Lanka 5 points.
Earlier today, Japan thrashed Sri Lanka 70-0 leading 35-0 at half time. Japan also smashed India 50-0 earlier in the tourney.
