Organised by the David Peiris Racing and Leisure Pvt Ltd, the X30 Asia Cup will be hosted in Sri Lanka for the very first time on the 13th and 14th of January 2018 at the Sri Lanka Karting Circuit in Bandaragama.
The X30 Asia Cup will mark the start of the Asian Go-Karting Season which will have a total of six rounds throughout the year in Singapore and Malaysia.
While Sri Lanka isn’t a stranger to hosting Go-Karting events, this will be the first time the country will host X30 Asia Cup. In 2016, Sri Lanka came close to host this event but unfortunately, they were unable to do so.

“We missed a very good opportunity of hosting the X30 Championship last season. It is a very popular and classy event, not only in Asia but also in Europe and other parts of the world. The organizers of this Championship were keen on conducting a Leg in Sri Lanka. It has 6 or 7 Legs, with 50 to 60 drivers involved. Furthermore, this track is already certified by the CIK. With that we hope to go forward,” said Mr. David Pieris speaking to The Sunday Times earlier this year.
However, he brought down Richard Lim who runs RL Karting in Malaysia to study the Karting Circuit in Bandaragama. This year, Sri Lanka got the nod from the organizers and everything is in place for January 2018.
The Asian Go-Karting season is rarely held outside South East Asia, therefore the leg in Sri Lanka will be special for Karting enthusiasts from around the world. Furthermore, the international kart event will feature contestants from countries in Europe.
The X30 Asia Cup will be conducted under Cadet class (Age 8-12), Junior Class (Age 12-14), Senior Class (Age 14-30), Masters/Veterans class (Age 30 and above) and Super Shifter.
Meanwhile, the winners of this competition will get a free entry to the IAME International Final in Le Mans. IAME, the Italian Karting Engine Manufacturing Company powers the X30 International Challenge and contributes with IAME engines and IAME spare part vouchers for the winners of the competition.
For the X30 Asia Cup, the organizers plan to have at least 80 world class contestants at the Bandaragama Circuit.
