St. Joseph’s College Maradana got the better of Holy Cross College Kalutara to win two goals to one in the all-important finals of the All Island Under 19 Division I Championship played at the Moragasmulla Football Stadium in Rajagiriya.
They retain the prestigious title after a period of twenty-one years.
Asela Madushan’s brilliant finish in the 17th minute gave St. Joseph’s College the lead. Amila Dhananjaya sealed the game in the 64th minute to complete a narrow win against the boys from Kalutara.
Asela Madushan was adjudged play of the match. Rasanjana Anuruddha won the best goalkeeper award.
The victory was indeed a special moment for St. Joseph’s College as they got the better of very tough schools in the island.
