Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney returned to his former club Everton as Romero Lukaku joined the Premier League heavyweights for £75 Million earlier this month. Everton signed Rooney for an undisclosed fee.
“Winning trophies with Everton) would be the pinnacle. I really feel now the club is moving in the right direction, bringing the right caliber of players in. I want to be part of it and hopefully part of a successful Everton team,” said the 31-year-old.
Lack of form dented Rooney’s first team chances but Manchester United finished sixth last season, just eight points above Everton.
“He loves Everton and he was desperate to come back. He is still only 31 and I don’t have any doubts about his qualities. It’s fantastic he’s here,” said Everton manager Ronald Koeman.
